RAC has introduced RAC 315 In-Car Satellite Navigator. It comes with a wide 4.3-inch touch screen display that has day and night mode options. It has a dimension of 126(w) x 90(h) x 23(d) mm. It uses the Microsoft Windows CE INET 5.0 core version operating system that runs on an ARM processor clocked at 400MHz. It has an internal flash memory of 512MB, which has the maps of UK and Ireland along with many points of interest. It is powered by rechargeable Lithium-polymer battery which has a battery life of 2 hours. RAC could have provided a device with a longer battery life. It comes with built in loudspeakers.

In the RAC 315 Satellite Navigator, users can use the postcode search facility to locate an address. Also this sat nav can plan your route through the quickest path, safest path or shortest path. The addresses can be searched using SMS style quick search option. It provides regular and timely voice instructions along with accurately guiding you through the route. In case of road blocks or traffic congestions, this device can re-route you through a different and safer and faster route. This sat nav comes with Bluetooth compatibility. Thus users can now do short range wireless transfer of data files. Also using Bluetooth technology you can make and receive calls hands free.

Pioneer has introduced Pioneer AVIC-F500BT In-Car Satellite Navigator. It measures 3.87-inches in height, 7.25-inches in width and 1.125-inches in thickness. It has a 5.8-inch wide touch screen display. The screen has both day view and night view modes. It comes with a slot for connecting external SD cards. It has a hard disk capacity of 1GB. It works on an embedded processor that is clocked at 600Mhz. Its internal in-built antenna is integrated with a high sensitivity GPS receiver. It comes with a 2GB NAND flash memory that has the maps of 33 European countries pre-loaded along with 3D elevation maps. It also includes a USB slot for easy PC interface.

Pioneer AVIC-F500BT Satellite Navigator includes about 1.5 million Points of Interest; however there is no provision to add additional points of interest if required. But the 1.5 million cover a huge lot of places, thus it is very convenient to locate the nearest gas station or hotel. It can calculate the shortest route, the quickest route as well as route that avoids tolls. On the screen it displays the remaining distance and the arrival time along with the current time. It provides you with the facility to search an address by state, suburb as well as postcode. Additionally it provides regular speed limit warnings. It also has a Tex-to-Speech function, which announces the names of roads and junctions as and when they appear on the screen. Voice instructions are also provided from time-to-time along with accurate route guidance. This sat nav supports about 20 European Languages.

It has a dimension of (WxHxD)14.2cm x 8.2cm x 1.8cm and a weight of 140 grams. This GPS device has an in-built RAM memory of 64MB and a flash ROM memory of 128MB. This internal memory capacity can be increased to up-to 4GB using microSD memory cards. It uses Windows CE 5.0 Operating system that runs on a Samsung processor clocked at 400MHz. It’s internal antenna integrated with a high sensitivity SirfStar III GPS receiver. A USB slot is provided for PC interface. This sat nav includes a memory card slot for external memory cards and a 3.5mm jack for connecting headphones.
