PocketMap X for iPhone


People at Space Machine just recently revealed a video of an application called PocketMap X. PocketMap X is what you may call a “free roaming 3D location browser”. You can drive through streets over a map, or fly over a city on a plane. To change your direction you just tilt your iPhone left and right.

You can increase your speed with the touch control on the right hand side of the screen and change your altitude from the left side.

How is this useful? We’re not sure. But it has to be useful for something other than entertainment. Check it out. This sneak peak video is pretty awesome:

Danew GS 340 Satellite Navigator


In the Danew GS 340 Satellite Navigator one can get navigational assistance as well as mobile TV via the integrated DVB-T adapter. It includes a 4.3-inch touch screen display that has a 480 x 272 pixel resolution and supports 65000 colours. This Danew GS 340 Automotive Satellite Navigator has a 2GB of flash memory that can be increased using the SD memory card interface. It runs on the Samsung S3C2440 processor clocked at 400 MHz. It includes an in-built MP3 player that can be used to listen to the favourite tracks. You can also tune into any of the programmes from free digital terrestrial television via the DVB-T tuner.

This Danew GS 340 Portable Satellite Navigator is supplied with a remote control and an external antenna. This GPS system is comparatively compact with a dimensions of 126 x 84 x 24 mm and a weight of 250 grams. It is priced at 500 euros.
