Find it all with nüvi 1690 and nüLink!


PC World posted their review of the nüvi 1690, our newest automotive device that will be in stores in time for the holidays. Their conclusion was that “if you’re a fan of the Garmin navigation experience, the added nüLink! connected services will only enhance the experience.” In case you’re not familiar with nüLink! yet, it’s our new real-time data service that gives access to real-time traffic, fuel prices, weather, Google local search, white pages and more. You get all this nüLink! content for free for the first two years.

Another cool, new feature is being able to send destinations and waypoints wirelessly to the nüvi. Let’s say you’re visiting NYC from California and someone from home wants you to visit your long lost aunt in NYC. By simply going through myGarmin, they can send you the street address wirelessly and your aunt’s address will appear in your to the nüvi’s favorites folder. Navman MY55T Satellite Navigator


Navman has introduced the MY series of satnavs recently for the navigating across Australia, with a European version is still to be launched. This Navman MY55T In-Car Satellite Navigator features a 4.7-inch touch screen display for viewing the navigational data. The addresses can be easily located using the smart find keyword search feature, alternately, the addresses can be located using the postcode or suburb names.

Along with accurate on-screen guidance, the device is capable of providing voice directions at the correct time enabling the user to drive safely and concentrate on the road better. A user can press a button and store a specific place or location in the system’s memory to be visited at a later point of time.

The Navman MY55T Satellite Navigator is capable of providing live traffic updates, offering the driver with information about the traffic jams and accident hotspots well in advance and in such cases computing a route around the problem area. Its comes equipped with safety camera database, that not only notifies a user about the upcoming speed cameras but also provides timely speed alerts when the driver exceeds the legal speed limit of a zone. The major junctions and landmarks are displayed in 3 dimensional formats for a better orientation. On a highway, the user can take the help of the advanced lane guidance feature and take the correct lane to their destination.

The Navman MY55T Portable Satellite Navigator’s Bluetooth compatibility allows the driver to make hands-free calls without interrupting the navigational guidance. Live weather updates can be obtained from this unit. A digital logbook feature allows the user to measure details about their trip, mileage, time taken and everything the user needs to keep a track of. With the latest Navteq maps provided by the unit, the user does not need to worry about if the maps are updated. It measures just 131 x 14 x 85 mm in dimensions. It is powered by a rechargeable battery that offers 3 hours of life on full charge. A 2GB memory has been provided that can be increased using microSD memory cards. Along with this satnav unit, a user gets an in-car charger, a wind-shield mount and an instruction manual.

TomTom iPhone Car Kit


TomTom has released the pricing details of its car kit that has been designed to complement an iPhone using the TomTom iPhone app. The car kit is priced at £99.99 and it is said to include a mount, an enhanced GPS receiver for better performance, an integrated speaker for clear spoken instructions, an in-built microphone for hands-free communication, a charger and a music adapter.

The car kit is capable of being rotated to view in landscape and portrait modes. The iPhone app costs about £59.99 and when couple with the car kit the total cost of the satnav app and the car kit works out to be £158.98.

This kit is supposed to be compatible with iPhone 3G and iPhone 3GS versions of the gadget. It is expected to hit the stores shortly.
