This is not deep-sea fishing with trawlers working far from the coast: this is old-style in-shore fishing with curtain nets and tiny boats. The fish come to the fishermen, not the fishermen to the fish. But the equipment is expensive, and seasonal workers come from Afghanistan: this is serious business.

For about five rhinos in North West province of South Africa has been fitted with GPS device to protect them from poachers. A small hole is drilled in the dead part of the horn to fit in the GPS chip. The chip can track rhinos movements and alarm the game warden.

Rusty Hustler, Head of Security for North West Parks Board reported that a number of alarms has been programmed to the chip: one if the rhino goes off to sleep more than six hours which is abnormal, and another for excessive movements like if the rhino starts running and one more if the chip gets outside the game reserve area.
The team in the park will track these reactions and will quickly reach the animal using the GPS tracker. Since the start of the year, more than about 200 rhinos have been butchered in South Africa as there is abundant demand for the rhino horn in Chinese, for its medicinal property.
