{"id":7920,"date":"2009-07-16T17:54:05","date_gmt":"2009-07-16T17:54:05","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.iranmap.com\/i\/?p=7920"},"modified":"2015-03-22T08:56:22","modified_gmt":"2015-03-22T08:56:22","slug":"tomtoms-pnds-to-enter-argentinean-market","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.iranmap.com\/i\/tomtoms-pnds-to-enter-argentinean-market\/","title":{"rendered":"TomTom&#8217;s PNDs to enter Argentinean market"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><br \/>\nPND manufacturer TomTom said today it will expand to Argentina in launching three products: the premium TomTom GO, the mid-range TomTom XL and entry-level TomTom ONE to be available in store in August 2009.<\/p>\n<p>The products will be distributed by Visuar and sold through various retailers across Argentina including Garbarino, Fravega, Carrefour, Wal-Mart and Falabela.<br \/>\n\u201cArgentina offers a good potential with over 9 million cars on the road every day, and we are confident that we can achieve the same leading position in Argentina that we already have in the rest of the world,\u201d says Elias Kabeche, TomTom\u2019s Area Director Latin America. \u201cOffering our fully localized PND products in Argentina is a logical next step in our expansion strategy in Latin America.\u201d <\/p>\n<p>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.iranmap.com\/images\/gps\/PND-TomTom.jpg\" alt=\"TomTom's PNDs to enter Argentinean market\" \/>\n<\/p>\n<p><strong>Map data<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>TomTom\u2019s subsidiary Tele Atlas provides the maps of Argentina. In addition to a pre-installed Argentinean map, TomTom will reward the first Argentinean customers a full year of free map updates, offering every released map version for free in the first year. Thanks to their passive and active (Map Share) map crowdsourcing technology, TomTom and Tele Atlas expect to quickly improve the Argentinean map database which is still work in progress.<\/p>\n<p>The map data offered by Tele Atlas in the country is indeed based upon an agreement signed with Argentina-based Datamap and announced in October 2008 (read details here). Under the terms of this contract Tele Atlas was gaining access to Datamap\u2019s existing database of more than 200,000 kilometers of navigable roads in Argentina, including the three major cities of Buenos Aires, Cordoba and Rosario.
