{"id":7990,"date":"2009-10-16T08:51:41","date_gmt":"2009-10-16T08:51:41","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.iranmap.com\/i\/?p=7990"},"modified":"2015-05-14T08:53:09","modified_gmt":"2015-05-14T08:53:09","slug":"google-to-crowdsource-3d-cities","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.iranmap.com\/i\/google-to-crowdsource-3d-cities\/","title":{"rendered":"Google to crowdsource 3D cities"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><br \/>\nGoogle announced this morning yet another add-on to Google Earth called Building maker, a web tool which allows ordinary people to create in a few minutes 3D buildings for Google Earth.<br \/>\n<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.iranmap.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/10\/Google-3d-cities.jpg\" alt=\"Google to crowdsource 3D cities\" title=\"Google to crowdsource 3D cities\" width=\"215\" height=\"160\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-2472\" \/><\/p>\n<p>       As explained by Google: \u201cBasically, you pick a building and construct a model of it using aerial photos and simple 3D shapes \u2013 both of which we provide. When you&#8217;re done, we take a look at your model. If it looks right, and if a better model doesn&#8217;t already exist, we add it to the 3D Buildings layer in Google Earth.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Until now making a 3D building required the use of SketchUp, a free 3D software from Google, which, while less complex that other professional 3D software, was pretty difficult to use for non specialists.
