The 14th Annual Persian Festival of Autumn (Mehregan) will be held at the Great Park in Irvine, California on Sunday, October 4, 2009.
Mehregan’s theme this year is human rights and liberty with a message of peace and harmony throughout the world. The organizing committee of Mehregan 2009 invites the entire community to participate and rejoice the spirit of Mehregan, and to voice our solidarity and unity with the people of Iran.
This free outdoor family event brings the sights, sounds, and tastes of ancient Persia to Orange County with traditional music, lectures, poetry, live entertainment, cultural performances, and ethnic food.
Mehregan commemorates the triumph of love and knowledge over ignorance, good over evil, and light over darkness. Mehregan is also a tribute to nature, a time of thanksgiving, and a harvest festival. It has been celebrated for the past 6,000 years in the land of Persia.
