Azeri Version of Khayyam Quatrains Unveiled in Baku


An Azeri version of the Quatrains (Rubaiyat) of Omar Khayyam, a noted Iranian poet was unveiled in a ceremony at Baku, Azerbaijan Republic. At the event attended by a number of Iranian and Azerbaijani literary figures, artists and poets, Khayyam’s quatrains were introduced as artistic and literary masterpiece.

Baku was nominated as the Islamic world’s cultural capital by Organization of Islamic Conference in 2009. Omar Khayyam was a Persian polymath: mathematician, philosopher, astronomer and above all poet.

He lived most of his life in Neyshabour, where was buried.
