Garmin’s newest marine-friendly handheld

The crew at Field & Stream recently posted their picks for this year’s best new fishing gear and Garmin’s newest marine-friendly handheld – the GPSMAP 78sc – took home the “Best New Marine GPS” honor.

“While you should carry a compass for emergencies, the 78sc makes things more certain. It’s easy to use, it runs on AA batteries, it’s waterproof, and it floats,” they touted. The GPSMAP 78sc was also praised for its built-in 3-axis tilt-compensated electronic compass, which shows yourheading even when you’re standing still. With its colorful maps, durable and buoyant design – the GPSMAP 78sc is everything a mariner needs, and Field & Stream agrees. “The GPSMAP 78sc doesn’t make coffee, but it does plenty.”
